All of our transplants are grown at Watershed Farm using certified organic potting soil and, more often than not, our own seeds that we save on farm using all organic and biodynamic growing practices. When we do have to buy in seeds, we source as locally as possible in order to support other local seed producers. We tend to favour heirloom varieties but sometimes use hybrid seeds if we feel that they truly offer a better plant that is more likely to succeed in your own garden. Starting in mid-May you can expect to find our transplants offered every week at Chicory Blue. We will carry a wide range including: tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, onions, chard, melons, and various perennials including black currants, elderberries, grapes, raspberries, asparagus and more.
For the best results in your home garden, pay close attention to the weather and don’t set your transplants outside until the weather accommodates the needs of the specific plants. Feel free to ask us for advice or attend some of our upcoming free workshops on gardening, potting up, using row cover, etc.
