Eruca vesicaria ssp. sativa
This delicious plant has been grown since the time of the Romans as a flavourful and healthy herb that has now become a staple in salads throughout many areas of the world. Arugula grows very quickly and has a mildly spicy flavour that becomes more pronounced as the plant gets older and particularly as the plant becomes exposed to more heat. The tender leaves are rich in Vitamin C and potassium and add a delicious flavour to any salad or sandwich.
